Gayle Skelly joined the Sail Scotland board in December 2018.  Since graduating from the University of Northumbria in 1998 with a marketing degree, Gayle has worked in marketing roles for over 20 years, gaining experience in an advertising agency, a Scottish brewery and at VisitScotland as retail marketing manager.

She has been employed part-time by Eyemouth Harbour Trust as Marketing Executive, since 2014 working across a wide variety of marine sectors including sailing and leisure, fishing, offshore wind and cruise. Eyemouth Harbour is a small traditional fishing harbour, often referred to as ‘Scotland’s First Port of Call’ due to its South easterly location. The harbour has grown its leisure craft market in recent years with the addition of pontoons and shore-side facilities. Gayle’s ambition is to see a more joined up sailing route around Scotland and a collaborative approach to marketing Scotland to the European markets.

In April 2017, she set up her own ladieswear boutique that she runs in Berwick upon Tweed, a ‘hark-back’ to her Fashion Marketing Degree.  In her precious holiday time she can found messing about in kayaks on the West Coast of Scotland and enjoying the fantastic fresh seafood!
