Scotland's Boat Show on Horizon
Date published: 28 September 2015
Scotland’s Boat Show 2015, the third largest boat show in the UK, promises to be the biggest yet, with a host of attractions - including the chance to ‘Win A Boat’ - that will have visitors flocking from all corners of the sailing world to Kip Marina, Inverclyde this October.
After the success of last year’s event which attracted 14,000 visitors, Scotland’s Boat Show (SBS15) has been officially designated part of Year of Food & Drink Scotland and premieres the brand new Scottish Food & Drink Pavilion containing unique Scottish food and drink producers in a ‘street market’ style setting complete with a live demonstration kitchen and stage.
Boats big and small will be the stars of SBS15 with the arrival of a Clipper 68’ Round The World racing yacht following the success of last year’s appearance of Clyde Challenger. This year however, visitors will be able to board the Clipper direct from the pontoons and easily experience what life on board is like as these dramatic boats race across the world.
At the opposite end of the size scale don’t miss the Hartley Boats flagship stand in the Small Boats Area where visitors can win a Hartley H12 dinghy worth over £3000 - one of the most popular sailing dinghies in the UK – perfect for sailing, racing or as an ideal boat for learning to sail. Simply visit the stand, pick up a ticket and the lucky winner will be announced on the final day of the show!
Part of the unique appeal of Scotland’s Boat Show is always the large numbers of high quality pre-owned boats on display from Michael Schmidt & Partner and this year promises to be largest range ever, with a display to suit every style and budget. Roseann Sweeney, Michael Schmidt & Partner’s Brokerage Manager said “I have never in my experience had so many Boat Show enquiries in July and they continue to grow! We will have a fantastic selection of boats on offer and, due to this demand, I would encourage any prospective buyers or sellers to contact us as soon as possible to take advantage of our Boat Show Package”
Elsewhere on the water, expect record numbers of new and used boats this year including a display of innovative design led yachts from Hanse including the 345, 385, 415, and, making its Scottish début, the magnificent Hanse 455.
Powerboat fans can enjoy the largest display of boats suitable for all budgets with several brand new models on view. Making their Scottish debut will be the stunning Sealine 330 and 380 the new Trusty 28, perfectly suited for cruising the west coast of Scotland with its rugged semi-displacement hull and luxurious accommodation, is sure to find an appreciative audience.
On shore the centerpiece RYA Scotland Pavilion will be filled with marine trade exhibitors showcasing the latest trends and developments in marine and leisure products from local and UK wide companies, many of whom are heading to SBS15 straight from the Southampton show, while in the RYA Scotland Theatre there will be the option to sign up for on-water taster sessions for those looking to try boats and boating for the first time, plus a series of presentations and lectures to entertain and inform.
The spectacular demonstrations of Flyboarding from Mike Dear of WetJets proved to be one of the highlights of last year’s show and this year he returns together with the amazing DJR Jet Ski Freestyle Display team for a set of incredible water based antics on Saturday and Sunday.
Elsewhere visitors can enjoy seeing luxury cars from Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Morgan, Bentley and, for the first time, Porsche - all adding up to a fascinating display of power and speed.
The Clyde LifeStyle Pavilion returns with a range of new artisan craft and design companies and is even bigger and better than last year everything from fashion to furniture on offer.
Around the show watch out for performances from choirs and pipe bands during the weekend, a children’s play area complete with assault course and a host of other attractions.
One of the most popular features of Scotland’s Boat Show will again be the chance to take a helicopter flight over Kip Marina and view the stunning scenery of the Firth of Clyde and at only £40 per person will undoubtedly have visitors queuing again this year – advance bookings are available by calling 01475521485.
Kip Marina managing director Gavin McDonagh said “Scotland’s Boat Show has again been expanded this year and we are all proud that the Show attracts visitors from all over the UK and Ireland to Inverclyde. Acknowledged by both visitors and exhibitors alike as Scotland’s premier event for boating and given the right weather, where better to be than Inverkip in October!”
